"Crime and Punishment: Making the case against the criminalization of HIV transmission and exposure", Facilitator(s):  L. Stackpool-Moore, R. Fransen, K. Osborne.  11-12.30, professional development workshop
Learning Objectives: At the end of the session participants will:
1. Have a clearer understanding of their own values around the issue of criminalization
2. Be able to provide rational arguments as to why criminalizing HIV does not support HIV prevention
3. Develop innovative advocacy approaches to address the criminalization of HIV

Poster: Creating partnership for change and empowerment in Turkey - using the PLHIV stigma index as part of our organisational development Partnering for change and empowerment in Turkey. The poster will be presented by Arzu Kayki from Turkey's Positive Living Association. Julian Hows, GNP+ Programme Officer, responsible for the PLHIV Stigma Index is a co-author.

Poster - Doing it for ourselves - The PLHIV Stigma Index People living with HIV leading research into stigma in three African countries; Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia. Kenly Sikwesi of the Zambian PLHIV network NZP+ will present the results from the PLHIV Stigma Index in the three countries on behalf of the PLHIV networks from Kenya (NEPHAK), Nigeria (NEPWHAN), and Zambia (NZP+). The research took place as part of the HIV - Leadership Through Accountability programme. The abstract was co-authored by Julian Hows, GNP+ programme Officer.

Poster - Finding the key to the closed door - The PLHIV Stigma Index Documenting stigma against people living with HIV in Belarus. Elena Grigoryeva of the Belarusian PLHIV network will present this poster, which was co-authored by Julian Hows, GNP+ programme Officer.

Poster - Moving from anecdote to evidence People living with HIV using the PLHIV Stigma Index to create a partnership that can properly gather the evidence to document the stigma faced by PLHIV in Poland and generate advocacy and action. Magda Ankiersztejn-Bartczak and Wojtek Tomczyñski of the Polish PLHIV network will present this poster, which was co-authored by Julian Hows, GNP+ programme officer.

Poster- Rights here, Right Now? Ongoing criminalisation of HIV transmission in Europe and Central Asia The poster presentation will focus on laws still in place and prosecutions still occurring in Europe and Central Asia within the thematic area of Criminalisation of HIV transmission. Presented by Lisa Power, Head of Policy of the Terrence Higgins Trust, co-authored by Julian Hows and Moono Nyambe, Programme Officers at GNP+.

Poster - Slow drips and raging torrents: A Global Picture of Criminalisation of HIV Transmission GNP+ presents results from the Global Criminalisation Scan in close cooperation with GNP+ affiliated regional PLHIV networks. The poster will be presented by Moono Nyambe, GNP+ programme officer.

Poster Low prevalence does not mean low stigma! PLHIV Stigma Index in the Philippines  Results from the PLHIV Stigma index which was implemented by Pinoy Plus and other PLHIV networks in the Philippines. Julian Hows, GNP+ programme officer is co-author.

Poster - Rural-urban differences in rates of HIV-related stigma in Zambia  People living with HIV lead research into stigma in three African countries; Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia. In Zambia particularly, there were significant differences between rural and urban situations. Presented by Kenly Sikwesi of the Zambian PLHIV network NZP+ and supported by Julian Hows, GNP+ programme Officer. The research took place as part of the HIV - Leadership Through Accountability programme.
