More linkages between HIV and sexual reproductive health services needed in Mexico 2010
In Mexico Field work began in May and ended September 2010, interviews took place simultaneously in 9 cities.
The lack of services linking sexual and reproductive health with HIV services presented as a major problem for sexual and reproductive health of people living with HIV, particularly for women living with HIV. Less than 40% of the interviewees are or have been mothers or fathers. Levels of knowledge about pregnancy without risk, methods of giving birth and feeding to nursing infants, shows that the health service providers are not providing key information that helps people to make decisions related to their sexual health and rights reproductive. Noteworthy that only 7% of the women interviewed had access to the prevention of vertical transmission services.
