The study found that HIV-related stigma was prevalent and an ongoing part of life for the people living with HIV in Nigeria who participated in this study.

Over one third of participants earn $650 or less per month and food insecurity was a major issues, with more than 98% of respondents having gone one or more days without food in the month before the interview. Every participant reported at least one AIDS orphan in thier household with nearly one in five respondents reporting five or more orphans per household. In addition 42% of respondents with children reported one or more HIV-positive children.
