

PLHIV Stigma Index Academy arrives in EECA and LAC region!

GNP+, together with the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), and John Hopkins University (JHU), has developed a short course for PLHIV community on the PLHIV Stigma Index program and to build capacity of PLHIV community to be part of the movement to eliminate HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
A fundamental aspect of the PLHIV Stigma Index is the leadership of PLHIV throughout the implementation, including conducting empirical research. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop the research capacity of PLHIV community, so that they can play the leading role in the process – from forming multi-stakeholder partnerships, research protocol development, data collection, data analysis, report writing, to advocacy. The PLHIV Stigma Index Academy is a specific and targeted short course developed for this purpose.
The Academy will take place over 3 days and will cover the following topics:
Day 1: The big picture & introducing the standardized methodology
Day 2: Collecting data & using and presenting data
Day 3: Movement building & planning
Application process
We are now recruiting PLHIV community members from EECA and LAC region to join the Academy. These two Academies will be held as in-person events, so please make sure you are available to participate fully on the dates of the Academy in your region before applying. To apply for the Academy, please send your CV, motivation letter (max. 1 page), and a letter of support from your PLHIV/WLHIV/YPLHIV network. Please see further details on each Academy here below.
Academy in EECA region
The EECA region Academy will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 13 – 15 September 2022, and will be conducted in Russian. To apply to this Academy, please direct your application and/or questions to application.eeca@stigmaindex.org. The deadline to send your application is Sunday, 7th of August 2022.
Academy in LAC region
The LAC region Academy will take place in Mexico-City, Mexico, from 27 – 29 September 2022, and will be conducted in Spanish and English (simultaneous translation will be available). To apply to this Academy, please direct your application and/or questions to application.lac@stigmaindex.org. The deadline to send your application is Sunday, 7th of August 2022.
Selection process
Upon the closing date, a regional selection panel will review all applications and select 15 participants to join each Academy. The regional selection panels for each region will consist of 3 members: a representative of GNP+, ICW, and UNAIDS RST. GNP+ will cover all travel-related costs for the selected participants.
