Check out the video below from our colleagues in Canada to find out more about their PLHIV Stigma Index findings and approach. In addition, born from a desire to share the stories of people living with HIV and their allies, they have developed a website called The Positive Effect, to spark dialogue and communicate around issues related to stigma. This website provides a collaborative and creative platform for people’s voices, stories, and experiences to be heard, and creates an opportunity for us all to connect.

The HIV Stigma Index: A look at the Greater Toronto Area findings & our Peer Research Approach

Jenn Lee, as a Master of Science in Biomedical Communications student at the University of Toronto, worked with the Canadian Stigma Index team and a national community advisory committee of people living with HIV to create an emotionally affecting video designed to help the public understand what HIV stigma is, and its debilitating effects. Using monsters endowed with human characteristics and a diverse cast of characters, Jenn makes stigma real and visible to audiences.
